The 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary indeed provided much celebration. In addition to installing the organization’s newest board members and officers, the Auxiliary paid homage to its founding members:

Mrs. Lanier Cobb, Mrs. Denny Galis, Mrs. Harry Goldsmith, Mrs. Marion Hubert, Mrs. James S. Majors, Mrs. Michael L. Malone, Mrs. Sterling Wilhoit, Mrs. M.L. McCartney, Mrs. T.H. Milner, Mrs. T.W. Paschall, Mrs. Robert Repass, Mrs. Ken Rosemond, Mrs. Brack Rowe, and Mrs. Rodney K. Swann.
In addition, the Auxiliary recognized its newest Lifetime Member, Camilla Bracewell, who was inducted by fellow Lifetimer Denise Sims with a touching tribute recognizing Camilla’s countless contributions to the Auxiliary. Also, Teresa McCook who most recently served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors this past year but has served in numerous positions during her tenure was welcomed as a Sustainer by Past President Kasay Rabon.
Road to Recovery Chair Leigh Garrett presented an award for the Auxiliary member who drove the most for the cancer patient transportation program over the last year and the award was presented to Amanda Nash. Amanda also was recognized with the first ever “Claire Swann New Member Award” that recognizes the most active new member.
Incoming President Kathryn Rodrigue capped the evening off by unveiling the 2008-2009 slogan of “Celebrate Everything” which the Auxiliary certainly plans to do!
