'Wine, Women & Shoes' for Local Breast Cancer Cause

Oct 1, 2009 by Natalie Glenn

Wine, Women & Shoes…is there a better combination? To celebrate this
trio, Shiraz Fine Wine & Gourmet will host a benefit on Thursday, October 1,
from 3 – 7:00 pm at their shop, located at 675 Pulaski Street, Suite 400 in
the Leathers Building, just a mile from downtown Athens. Portions of the
proceeds from “Wine, Women & Shoes” will benefit the 4th annual “In Their
Shoes” walk on October 17, which helps fund the local Loran Smith Center for
Cancer Support at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Highlights of the Shiraz benefit include: samples of Red Eye Coffee,
courtesy of Gregg Carey; tastings of a variety of brittle candies from Susan
Dickerson, creator of Brittle.Period; and memorabilia that support the
breast cancer cause. Featured items for sale include: glasses of pink
champagne for $2; Tervis Tumblers that can be personalized; Republic of Tea
merchandise; and pink ribbon martini and wine glasses. Fifty percent of the
proceeds from anything with a pink ribbon will go towards the “In Their
Shoes Walk”, and 25% of the profit of any food or accessory items will be
dedicated to the cause as well.
